Wat Phra That Doi Pu Khao

Wat Phra That Doi Pu Khao is thought to have been constructed during the Wiang Hirannakhon Ngoen Yang era, in the mid 8th century. This riverside temple is high above the Sop Ruak market and the lookout at the end of the car park offers a panoramic view up the Mekong – to the  left is Myanmar and Laos is on the right.

The viharn and crumbled chedis are the only visible remains of this ancient temple complex.
